A money market is the market, in which money market investments are traded. Such money market investments can be deposits certificates, bills or other short term high grade fixed income securities. 

Money market is part of financial market where money market instruments are traded. Money market firstly includes high rating short term bonds (Treasury bills, commercial papers) as well as certificates of deposits, money market funds or other money market investments.

Money market is a large market and mostly known by investors who are looking for safe investments. Money market investments are the safest (at least for a short term) and this market is a safe landing stage during financial turmoil. However, yields offered by money market are extremely low and most of the times even do not cover inflation.
