Securities are financial instruments that represent rights to some assets. Securities can be listed or non-listed. Listed securities are traded on securities exchanges, which commonly are called as stock exchange. Non listed securities may be traded in OTC market, or may be not traded at all (small companies).

Securities are main investments used in investing process. Securities can be issued by corporations, governments, local authorities or financial intermediaries. All issued securities together constitute a big part of financial market, which is very important to overall economy.
