Investment DictionaryGrowth Funds
Growth funds are investment (mutual) funds that concentrate on investing in stocks of fast growing companies. Growth funds can be passively managed or actively-managed funds but all growth funds are riskier than average stock market investment.
Growth funds may promise higher return than value funds or other more conservative stock funds, and that will be true in a bull market. When stock market is rising growth stocks are rising even more, but when the decline starts then growth stocks will underperform the market very badly.
Growth stocks are good investments but the exposure must be adequate to the whole investment risk of the portfolio and risk tolerance.
